- Yello and welcome to issue one of The ZX Files. You may be wondering
- why in this age of super consoles would anyone want to write a
- magazine dedicated to the most humble of computers, the Sinclair ZX
- Spectrum. Well, like many other people, I was quick to sell my crumbly
- 8 bit Spectrum in favour of the then mighty Atari ST (stop
- laughing), only to realise years later that I missed playing games
- such as Chucky Egg 2, Ghosts and Goblins, Head Over Heals and Green
- Beret. I did, probably, like many other ex Spectrum owners, purchase
- a copy of a ZX emulator. Unfortunately, even on my A1200 it runs
- around half the speed of a proper Spectrum and without wanting
- to spend in the excess of £100 just to speed this emulator up I
- started looking out for a second hand Spectrum. Whilst browsing
- around a car boot I bought a Sinclair ZX Spectrum 128k +3 with
- over 50 games and a decent joystick for £5, certainly a lot
- cheaper than buying extra ram or an accelerator. I also purchased
- a CD and a few PD disks with Speccy material and have copied my
- favourite games onto tape. The only problem I have found with
- the PD stuff is that there are no instructions, whilst knowing
- the instructions for some games may not always be essential, in
- other other cases it can make a world of difference in the enjoyment
- of playing it. So with other Spectrum sufferers in mind I have
- decided to write instructions for as many games as I can, and also
- where possible include hints and tips as well as other useless
- articles. So put on those rose tinted spectacles and get bashing
- those rubber keys.
